Getting to Maine by Car
From points south of Maine, take Interstate 95 North. There is only one major road into Maine and everyone crosses into Maine at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Once in Maine, the directions provided below will get you to Boothbay Cottages. Boothbay Harbor, Maine is about 10 hours from the Washington D.C area, 6 hours from New York and 3 1/2 hours from Boston.
Getting to Maine by Bus and Train
If you are taking a bus into Maine, there is only one choice – Concord Coach Lines (1-800-639-3317). Amtrak operates the “Downeaster” train (1-800-872-7245) between Boston and Portland and it is a 2 1/2 hour train ride that leaves from Boston’s North Station. The bus leaves from South Station or Logan Airport and brings you to the Concord bus station in Portland in 2 hours. Remember that you truly need a car to explore the communities on our coast.
Getting to Maine by Air
If you are flying on a commercial airline, we recommend flying into Portland International Jetport (PWM). It is served by Delta, United, Continental, American, US Airways/Express, Northwest and JetBlue. Car rental agencies at the Jetport include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, Sears, and Enterprise. The other choices are Boston’s Logan Airport (3 ½ hour drive) or arriving at Manchester, New Hampshire’s International Airport (MHT which is a 3 1/2 hour drive to mid-coast Maine). Flights into Manchester on Southwest Airlines are often inexpensive.

1. Take I-95 N toward NEW HAMPSHIRE/MAINE (Portions require toll). This is also the Maine Turnpike.
2. Merge onto I-295 N via EXIT 52 toward Falmouth.
3. Merge onto ME-196 S via EXIT 31 toward TOPSHAM/LISBON. 2.79 miles
4. Merge onto US-1 N toward BATH. 18.68 miles
5. Turn RIGHT onto ME-27 (takes you into Boothbay Harbor). 9.73 miles
6. Turn LEFT onto UNION ST. 0.25 miles
7. Turn RIGHT onto ATLANTIC AVE. 0.1 mile
8. Turn LEFT onto LOBSTER COVE RD. (large white Catholic Church is on the corner) 0.4 mile
9. Turn LEFT onto APPALACHEE RD. 0.2 mile
10. Turn LEFT to stay on APPALACHEE RD. 0.2 mile
11. End at 103 Appalachee Rd. Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538-2312. Both Oceanview and Lakeside Cottages are located at this address.
